Empowering Small-Scale Poultry Farmers through Digital Innovations: A Case Study in South Sumatra
Abstract
The poultry industry in Indonesia is undergoing rapid transformation, spurred by the integration of digital technologies into traditional farming systems. This study explores how mobile applications, automated data collection, and online supply chain platforms have impacted small-scale poultry farmers in South Sumatra. Using a qualitative case study approach, we examine changes in productivity, economic resilience, and community engagement. The findings reveal that digital tools not only enhance operational efficiency but also promote farmer empowerment through improved access to markets, veterinary support, and training resources. These insights offer valuable implications for rural development policies and the design of inclusive digital ecosystems in agriculture.
